Had the idea of Olly meeting the Covert Au turtles somehow, didn't know how... but then I found this song (again). May I introduce the movie poster for "Alice Alice" or even better "Olly Olly Oxen free/Oxygen free" get it? because she's a poison Yokai? haha... ha.. anyway! This comic is older, but clean enough that I didn’t feel the need to redraw! Darn perfectionism lol

So the ways that different animals communicate varies vastly between them. For example, rats hear things on a spectrum slightly above human hearing, and there are recent studies touching on how with special microphones, scientists have discovered that rats squeak a lot to one another in high pitches to communicate between them like their own little secret language! While there are significantly less studies on turtle behavior the same can be said for them, as baby turtles will make low noises that signal when the others of their nest are hatching, and in general they hear much lower frequencies on account of their scale covered eardrums and need for underwater listening.

So with that, how do the animal traits of Splinter and his kids line up?

They probably have a base hearing range similar to a humans, but the turtles can probably hear and speak lower sounds than Splinter and vice versa. What shenanigans could they get up to?

Cue cussing in a frequency range that Splinter shouldn’t be able to hear…

One of the funniest parts about the whole “Leo not giving Draxum any grace” idea is that Draxum is one of the ONLY notable older men in the show that Leo isn’t willing to give a proper second chance to OR really hear out in the first place.

No seriously it’s genuinely a Thing.

A Ninjago Legends: Monstrosity Theory

Alright, so I’ve heard chatter regarding this particular moment in the trailer for Monstrosity:

Now, while others have speculated that this mural could foreshadow Kai somehow becoming part insect or otherwise come to blows with a giant centipede, I’d like to bring something up I haven’t seen anyone else mention or comment on, that being the fact that legends detailing giant centipedes are actually a part of Japanese mythology.

Specifically, I am referring to the relatively obscure yōkai called the Ōmukade. As the legends explain, the Ōmukade was an utterly massive centipede with legs that looked like lit torches that was so long it was capable of wrapping around entire mountains several times over. Moreover, these massive beasts were said to prey on humans, despite human saliva being a major weakness to it. It should also be noted that the Ōmukade was also noted as being so powerful and vicious that they were also capable of hunting, killing, and eating dragons.

Now, while most people have been focusing on the nightmarish situation Kai has found himself in after The Merge, I can’t help but wonder if the mini-series will have a far reaching effect on the greater story outside of what happens to Kai. Like, I get that season 3 of Dragons Rising has established what seems to be the overarching villain going forward, but I can’t help but wonder if events that will be shown in Monstrosity could allude to yet another existential threat posed to the Source Dragons and the Merged Lands as a whole, quite possibly with Kai himself serving as the epicenter of this threat in some form or fashion.

I get that this theory is next to completely baseless and it’s unlikely that an Ōmukade will actually show up let alone factor into the broader series. Whatever the case, I’m leaving this here for anyone that’s interested and I’m more than happy to hear what other people have to say about this.

Song: The horse and the infant. Fandom: ROTTMNT Characters: Baron Draxum (young-er), Iodine (baby), unnamed Yokai commander of the anti-human faction (Bat thing) Q- How did Draxum come to adopt Iodine? A- He didn't. He stole her from a human lab during a raid. Q- Why was Iodine in a human secret research lab deep underground in NYC? A- Iodine is not Human, Mutant or Yokai and possesses some interesting genetic features and abilities. She was meant to be used and researched in the production of weapons to fight the nonhuman threats they knew existed but hid from the world. Q- Why did Draxum spare Tinydine? A- Draxum saw her as just another victim of humanity, even if she looked human he was able to see that she was innocent in all this and that she was in a way like himself and yokaikind. Q- was Draxum a good dad? A- Ehhhhhhhhhhhhh... depends on your definition of "good"?

Rise August: Yokai

So I uhhhh made another oc because that's what I'm pretty ok at

I know the secret evil twin cliche is really cliche but fr I love her design and character dynamic with Draxum specifically

Since the release of the 40th anniversary comics (and me finally getting my copy lol) I thought I’d share the old ideas I’d come up with for Big Mama’s Assistant way back in 2023 when I was doing a NaNoWriMo challenge with a friend!

I’m not the biggest fan of lost sibling plots, unfortunately, so I had decided to keep Big Mama’s Assistant as an episodic villain with a silly gimmick. Also just cause I wanted to shake things up a little bit lol.

Since Future Mikey has old man hair, I thought, what if that’s simply because of how similar the brothers are to kappa? So, this version of this character is a kappa herself, complete with the hair and the murderous intentions lol. Kappa have a little dish on their heads full of water that has to be kept hydrated otherwise they pass out, generally. Thus, a very dangerous villain with a penchant for silly hats that act as a simple win condition for fun fights!

I wanted her to look scrungly, as is common for characters in Rise which is something I love it for. Her general head shape I wanted to keep as similar to her hood and mask as possible so she doesn’t seem unrelated to her armored character design, and I kept her patterns low key as she wears clothing that’s covers it most of the time. Her name is Jennika, as Jennika uses claw weapons in some of her comic issues I’ve seen and so does BM’s Assistant in the show.

Anyways! This was just a fun version of this masked character I drew up for an story outline challenge with a friend, before I knew she was Frida! Since she’s been unmasked, I thought I’d share :)
